I don’t normally like covers of songs that stay too faithful to the original. After all, why bother remaking something if it’s going to be almost the same as the source? That’s just copying.
That said, I do like Gnarls Barkley (though less than the Violent Femmes), and this video for their cover of “Gone Daddy Gone” is pretty brilliant.

What does one wear to a vineyard wedding in Napa? We’re going to one next weekend and I can’t decide.
I have this dress, which I love, but it seems a little frilly for the occasion. To me, a vineyard wedding says not super-formal, but sleek and a little glamourous.
I also have a simple, knee-length black modal situation that packs very well and bridges that gap between informal and dressy with the addition or subtraction of accessories. It’s not this one exactly, but similar:
I also have various skirt/top and jacket/pants combinations, but I like wearing dresses to weddings. It makes me feel fancy.
