Warm New Year
This has been the global warmingest winter ever. It was supposed to be crappy on New Year’s Day, and that didn’t happen. It’s 45F today and supposed to be warmer tomorrow.
It’s all very peculiar.
New Year’s Eve was fun. We had the 7-course dinner at 126. Here’s what I can remember:
1. Amuse bouche of gelée filled strawberries and champagne
2. Appetizer (probably my favorite course of the night): Duck confit in phyllo pastry
3. Soup: celeraic bisque
4. Poached lobster on greens with vanilla vinaigrette (I ate a big chunk of Denny’s because he’s not a lobster fan)
5. Grilled beef tenderloin…I’m sorry to say I don’t remember the exact preparation. I got the wine pairings and they were really adding up by that point.
6. Flourless chocolate cake with hazelnut mousse
7. Rosemary lemon cookies with a frothy chai tea situation.
Then we went home and fought sleep until midnight, at which point we smooched and went prompty to bed. I am too old for the party hearty life.
