Change of plans
After several years of mild Decembers, Iowa appears to have reformulated its weather patterns and turned this one crappy. It hasn’t been crazy-cold, but it keeps hovering right around the freezing point and precipitating, which those of you who’ve ever experienced it know is about the worst possible driving situation.
There is freezing rain predicted for tomorrow, so DC and I have decided to hit the road tonight. We’ll be going to Ames to see my family, then maybe to Des Moines tomorrow to do some stuff with one side of his (weather permitting), then the actually-planned festivities with my family on Sunday, and to Albia on Monday for the other side of his family.
How did it happen that our families have three sides, when there are no divorces/remarriages in our immediate circle? Through prolific procreation, that’s how. Both of Denny’s parents have 11 siblings, so his mom’s side and dad’s side can each easily fill a house. My dad’s side is getting bigger, since there’s a handful of us who’ve recently added spouses and kids, but we are still nowhere near competing with the Cralls and Bearys.
So, yeah. My blogging will be limited in the upcoming days unless something seriously exciting happens. Happy holidays, everyone.
