Greetings from Napa
Hello. This is Aprille Clarke reporting from the free wireless internet access at the lovely Best Western at the Vines hotel in Napa, California. We got into San Francisco yesterday and enjoyed a lovely evening with Sarah, Pete, Ruby, and Ryan. Our dinner was really great. We all shared several appetizers: grilled romaine hearts with gorgonzola and toasted hazelnuts, a cheese plate, and a prosciutto pizza. For an entree, I had rack of lamb with squash and quinoa, and I washed it down with some Australian syrah.
We headed out to Napa this morning, and the weather’s not so hot now (chilly and grey), but it promises to be nicer for the wedding tomorrow Denny just went out to the rehearsal, which I’m skipping because I have some work to do, but he’s promised to come back and fetch me for the festivities this evening.
Free wireless rules, as do Amaretto Milano cookies and In-n-Out burgers, animal-style.
What the heck are “In-n-Out burgers, animal-style?”
In-n-Out burger is a west coast chain, and the famously have a very limited menu (just hamburgers, cheeseburgers, fries, and drinks). However, Internet lore informed me that there’s this whole code of different things you can get, including “animal style.” That’s some kind of special sauce, grilled onions, and something else.
It’s not a very well-guarded secret, especially considering the receipt said “Animal” right on it, but it was good anyway.
