So very sleeeeeeeeepy

I’m exhausted. I didn’t sleep very well last night; I woke up around 4:30 and couldn’t get back to sleep for a long time. I eventually lulled my brain into unconsciousness by playing a word game in which I went through the alphabet and tried to think of a word that was at least two syllabus long, began with the sequential letter I was on, and ended with the letter e. It went a little something like this:

  • apple
  • battle
  • cribbage
  • drainage

and so on.

I think I’m just not quite used to the new house yet. It smells weird. I’m going to have to swing by the old Hy-Vee tonight and get some oranges and cinnamon sticks to simmer on the stove. At the old place, a simmering pot on the stove would have improved the smell of the whole apartment, but now I might have to put some other measures in place in other rooms.

We got the kitchen unpacked last night, but the bedrooms are still a mess. I wonder if we’ll ever decorate. Right now it seems like a big enough challenge just to get my clothes in the closets.

A note to the small subset of the population that cares: I called an appliance store today and they have the parts we need for the washer and dryer, so we’re going over there after work. It’ll be good to get those all ready.

I care. You may have looked at web sites regarding installation of gas dryers. I have. It appears simple, but includes important matters regarding sealing of supply and vent lines. I know you and D.C. can handle this, but today, I sent you a carbon monoxide and gas detector/alarm. It’s a dad thing.

Thanks, Dad. We got the parts we needed, though we’re short a wrench. We’re going to Lowe’s soon to get one of those. I’ll wait with bated breath (perhaps literally) for the CO detector.
