Off to Ames
Well, crap.
I just wrote a long post about my weekend plans (trip to Ames for meeting at Iowa State, Father’s Day stuff, fascinating discussion about the role of movie theaters in my life), and my browser crashed and it went poof.
I guess I’ll talk about it later.
I hate it when that happens. You really should ID the browser, just so we have an appropriate target for our scorn and disappointment.
I don’t know about yours, but my blogging software auto saves every few minutes. I’ve never tested it (s’pose I should do that, eh?) but it does something every so often on its own and then announces that it has auto saved. I’m using WordPress (as you are) 2.2. The feature was added in version 2.1, and you have to have something filled in the title area for it to work, but it does seem to work.
That came off a little… what? Smug? Supercilious? Annoying? My apologies. What I meant to say was:
“Wow, that sucks, Aprille. I hate it when that happens. You should upgrade to the latest version of WordPress, as it seems they have an autosave feature (so long as you fill in the title field) that has surely saved my butt (though I haven’t been paying attention).”
So sorry.
It’s really okay, Danny. I didn’t take it as smug, supercilious, annoying, or anything. Keep posting pictures of your cute kids and we’re all good.
It was a Firefox problem. I’ve noticed Ff has been crashing lately when I have lots of tabs open and one or more contains certain multimedia elements. I’m on a different machine at the moment so I can’t check, but I think I’m up to date version-wise.
