It depends what you guys are looking for in a weekend. If you are looking for nightlife, shows and great restaurants then go to Montreal. If you are looking for a quieter weekend with interesting history and quaint shops and fabulous outdoor cafes then I would recommend Quebec City. You will need to speak some French in Quebec City whereas you can get by in english in Montreal.
A long weekend in Montreal is good for the quick highlights. My wife and I went there for a Memorial Day weekend and we had a blast. It did make us feel like we needed to get back some other time (which we haven’t yet). However, it’s definitely a highlight trip of ours, even if only 3 nights.
Congrats from Madison WI on baby, btw!

Hosted by bluehost.com: cheap, reliable, and lots of space. I get a small kickback if you sign up through that link. They're actually good. I wouldn't shill for a piece of crap.
Just don’t wear a Colorado Avalanche jersey.

I vote for Vancouver, or maybe, Victoria, British Columbia.
