Ireland

This row of pictures was taken at Trinity College in Dublin, which is Ireland's most prestigious university. It was fun to walk around the campus and see some of the exhibits in the library (such as the Book of Kells).
The horse close-up was taken at the National Stud, which we actually visited because they have really cool Japanese gardens. None of my pictures from there turned out very well, though. We also stopped to see the horses. The rest are from St. Canice's cathedral in Kilkenny.
These are from the grounds of Kilkenny Castle. There was no photography allowed inside, but it was full of cool stuff, including some gorgeous paintings and tapestries from the 1600's. It's been restored from some damage it incurred, probably because of Cromwell. They blame him for a lot of things.
The tower on the far left is outside St. Canice's cathedral, and it's over 100 feet high. I got nervous climbing up it (it was rather precarious), but we made it to the top. It was really, really windy, but fortunately there was a strong enclosure. There were great views from the top,
On the far left is the tower at St. Canice's again, with Denny for scale. Second from the left is a stabby shadow at Cahir Castle. The jaunty people are from a sculpture outside the Rock of Cashel, and the final one is actually on the grounds of the Rock of Cashel, which is a huge old fortress on a hill. We had a great view of it from our B&B.
Near the Rock of Cashel (again on the far left), there was an old ruined abbey called Hore Abbey (in the middle pictures). It's amazing that there's so much historical stuff just sitting around, and you can climb all over it and everything.
